Dear College Admission Expert,
I’ve taken a lot of AP courses throughout high school, because I know that some colleges accept AP credit towards general education requirements. How do I know if schools do this, and will good AP test scores help me to get admitted?

Ilana,
The best way to find out if a college accepts AP credit is to either look on their web site or contact a member of the administration. Both of those sources will be able to answer your question in a more specific manner pertinent to the individual school. There are many colleges that are starting to not accept AP credit, and if they are, the scores must be very very high. Most colleges won’t ask for your AP scores in the application process, as they already look at both grades and standardized testing scores. Admissions officers have enough to look at as it is, and once you are actually admitted, they can take a look at your AP test scores and see if they are satisfactory enough to give you credit.
