The Facts

California State University, Sacramento is a rather large, public institution located in the appropriately titled town of Sacramento, California, and has a combined undergraduate and graduate student population of approximately 26,270. The graduate College of Business Administration, however, is significantly smaller, and is home to over 230 graduate business students. Approximately 83% of the enrolled students have had an average of 4 years of full-time professional experience, a factor that the admissions committee takes a serious look at when reviewing applicants' portfolios. As a result of this fact, the average age of enrollment is around 29, however, ages range from 22 all the way up to 55. 17% of students enter directly from undergraduate school, and approximately 4% of students already have a graduate degree of some sort when they enroll. The College of Business Administration is known for placing an emphasis on expanding students' ways of thinking about the world, all the while helping them to sharpen their decision making skills. The school offers its students degrees in the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Accountancy (MSAccy), Master of Science in Business Administration/ Management Information Systems (MSBA/MIS), Master of Science in Business Administration/ Taxation (MBA/Tax), as well as joint degrees in law (MBA/JD, MSAccy/JD). Some of the most popular areas of study include courses in the areas of finance, management information systems, as well as accountancy.

Admission to CSU Sacramento's graduate College of Business Administration is rather competitive among the relatively few students who apply; last year, over 352 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 180 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 120 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.2, and an average GMAT score of about a 556. The admissions committee requires all applicants to have a minimum undergraduate GPA of at least a 2.5, as well as a minimum GMAT score of at least a 500. Students are able to begin MBA courses in either the fall or spring, and students are notified of their acceptance status on a rolling basis.

The College of Business Administration has 82 total full-time faculty members, all of whom hold doctorate degrees. The average graduate business class size is usually around 30 students, and most professors teach an average of 10 credit hours.

Placement Services

The school has rather limited placement services, however, the majority of students already have full-time professional jobs. Last year, there were 35 companies actively recruiting on campus, and the majors most in demand were management information systems, marketing, as well as finance. The majority of the recruiting companies were national and international corporations.
