The Facts

Wilmington College is a rather moderately-sized, private institution located in the town of New Castle, Delaware, and has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 8,470 students. The college's graduate business program, however, is significantly smaller, and is home to about 927 graduate business students. Approximately 95% of the currently enrolled students have had an average of 5 years of full-time professional experience, a factor taken into serious consideration by the admissions committee when reviewing applications. Perhaps as a result of this fact, the average age of enrollment is around 34, however, ages range from 26 to 49. Approximately 10% of the currently enrolled students entered directly from undergraduate school, while about 1% of the students already have a graduate degree of some sort. The school is perhaps best known for its emphasis on both case studies as well as the practical application of classic business theory. The school offers graduate business degrees in the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration (MBAHCA), Master of Business Administration in Transportation and Logistics (MBA), Master of Business Administration in Management (MBA), Master of Science in Management (MSM), Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM), Master of Science in Health Care Administration (MSHRM), Master of Science in Public Administration (MSMMPA), Master of Science in Transportation Logistics (MSM), as well as Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL). The school also offers internship and work-study opportunities throughout the community. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of human resource management, finance, as well as leadership.

Admission to the university's graduate business program is quite competitive among the many students who apply; last year, over 1,095 students applied for admission to the school, and about 930 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 880 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.5. The admissions committee requires all applicants to have a minimum undergraduate GPA of at least 2.0, and the GMAT is not required. Students are able to begin their graduate course work in the fall, spring, or summer, and are notified of their admissions status on a rolling basis.

The graduate business program has 5 full-time faculty members, of whom 80% have a doctorate degree. The school is also home to 20 part-time faculty members, of whom 40% have a doctorate. The average graduate business class usually numbers around 18 students, and most faculty members teach an average of 6 courses at any given time.

Placement Services

The school has rather limited placement services, as most students are already fully-employed when they enroll. The services that are available however, are available to both current students and alumni for an unlimited amount of time after they obtain their degree.

"There are some pretty great internships available here."

What's Bad

"There isn't any on campus graduate housing, which is a bit obnoxious."
