The Facts

Temple University is a rather large, public institution located in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 29,700 students. The university's Beasley School of Law, however, is significantly smaller, and is home to about 1,053 graduate law students. The average age of enrollment is around 25, and it is quite rare for any of the students to enter the school directly from their undergraduate education. The school is perhaps best known for its connections within the city's legal and professional communities, as well as for its heavy emphasis on practical legal skills. The school offers degrees in the 3 year JD, the 1 year LLM in trial advocacy, the 1 year LLM in taxation, the 1 year LLM in transnational law, the 1 year LLM in foreign law, as well as combined degrees in the 4 year JD/MBA, the JD/LLM in taxation and transnational law, as well as several self-designed JD joint degrees. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of commercial law, constitutional law, corporation securities law, criminal law, environmental law, government services, human rights law, intellectual property law, international law, public interest law, taxation, as well as trial advocacy.

Admission to Temple University's Beasley School of Law is quite competitive among the many students who apply; last year, over 4,152 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 1,150 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 330 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average LSAT score ranging from 157 to 162, as well as an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.4. Students are notified of their admissions status on a rolling basis, and there is currently no early application program in place.

The Beasley School of Law has 61 faculty members, all of whom come from very diverse legal and professional backgrounds. Students rave about the availability and accessibility of their professors, saying that they are usually around to clarify things and to give assistance. The school has a very manageable student to faculty ratio of 16:1, and the small classes allow for plenty of discussion and interaction between students and their professors.

Employment Facts

Students at the Beasley School of Law don't seem terribly concerned when it comes to finding jobs after graduating. The school is well connected within the legal community, and helps students to make the appropriate professional connections. Over 93% of the most recently graduating students were able to find jobs within a few months of receiving their degrees, and had an average starting salary of about $68,000. Students are most frequently hired by employers such as the district attorney's office, public defenders, national law firms, state and federal judges, as well as various non-profit legal organizations.
